It's creepy as shit. I don't need everyone losing every time I read a post or update my profile. It's stalkerey, unnecessary, and frankly discourages me from participating in anything but threads about kittens and rainbows.

I tend to agree about the creepiness of it... I'd much prefer they brought back the "updated profiles" and "updated galleries" lists instead...

That said, the Activity Tracker is SUPER useful for hunting spam... without it, I'd have to manually view every new user.

Yeah, I use the Activity Live a tonne to clean the site, but for the general site users it's a bit weird.

Just what I was thinking. The truth is, there's so so much that could be optimized on this site. I think they want more active users before they put the work in.

Except that's putting the cart in front of the horse.
If the site isn't usable, then they won't ever get users.

    =/

I'd also suggest that the random media be hidden if you're not logged in.
There's a pretty high probability that the images were in private galleries, only visible to FRIENDS.. and users could hide their entire profile (including images) from non-logged-in visitors... Content that was historically private has now been published in a very public way....

    THAT is creepy... =/

I think the random media should be removed as it too is creepy as shit. Why have a scrolling box of pictures of teenagers from nearly 10 years ago now up when NONE of them are online now? It's like a homage or history lesson or something and it's totally irrelevant.

And the new posts tab is sufficient for tracking new posts, the Activity Live button is redundant as well as being creepy/excessive I agree.

I personally agree, but I'm not sure if that opinion is shared by Kev and I get it.

This thread deserves to be looked at again too @skrinkle
/Bump :read: lellojello and djfly both made very good points about the activity tracker being invisible to regular users and of course the random media disaster
