okay, so last week i was reading the paper, and i saw that paul martin is making the decision of whether or not gay "marriage" should be legalized up to parliament.
this is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard of. first of all, parliament has no right to decide what's best for the people of the country when it comes to matters of the heart. it's like because of an action one cannot help, they're to be punished for it for the rest of their lives. not to say that because of this their lives will be normal anyways, but why complicate things further?
if the decision is to be made by anyone, make it up to the people who have to deal with it; like the public, or the people who ultimately have to make the decisions.
why am i so wound up about this issue? simply because i have friends in the position of maybe not being able to be with the one they love because some people view it as wrong. don't get me wrong, i'm not bashing opinions, or hating on gay haters, i'm just saying why make someone else's business yours? why is it that because some people want to be happy, others feel it's wrong to be happy with someone of the same sex?
if the term "marriage" is controversial, then change it to "union" or something. but don't make people who love eachother suffer.
