A bunch of punk and pop-punk bands are releasing new albums this year, including blink-182, Billy Talent, Against Me!, NOFX, Descendents, Green Day, Sum 41, and possibly Bad Religion. I'll be the first to admit that I still love these bands. I'm a sucker for anything that sounds like it was made between 1998 and 2003. What about you guys? Are any of you looking forward to new material from these bands?
I'll go see Descendents and check out the new record, but that's it. File Blink under guilty pleasure, but don't care about the new stuff.
Nope. I wrote punk and pop-punk in my original post. I decided to include them in the thread since they are fairly melodic and have both had singles and albums that made it on the charts. "The year of radio-friendly punk revival" wasn't near as catchy.
lol, fair enough, I missed that in your post... NOFX will *never* get played on the radio, though (well, basically never)...
Yes, and the reason that song exists is because of their general hatred for anything to do with The Music Industry... They don't allow their stuff to be licensed... Way back in the day, Much Music played a few tracks on "indie punk nights" I think, NOFX generally tolerated that kinda thing... but generally speaking, you can buy their CD or go see them live. That's it. This song is a dumb reminder that they won't allow it... or at least, never really have before.
And you don't post the link itself, why? Spamming me with pop-ups so you can make a penny? I sincerely hope that this is a bannable offense.
Really into a couple of bands called FIDLAR and The Orwells. They have been around for awhile, but they for sure fit into this resurgence of modern punk / pop punk.
Saw them in '98 with The Promise Ring & Grade (pre-Clarity). They were really great, but I never got into them. I still find it odd that they had a big radio hit.
