So I was supposed to watch this before but couldn't get around to finishing it, so I watched it tonight while eating dinner (although I didn't eat much of it) and I've got to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I was fully expecting a torture-porn movie with its only purpose to shock audiences like The Human Centipede or Martyrs (some people claim Martyrs isn't torture-porn but I disagree, awful movie). But no, this was a movie with a message and an underlying humanity to it believe it or not. What I got from it is if you treat a group of people like savages, they're going to behave like savages. And if you treat people with respect, they're going to give you respect. It also showed the dangers of sensationalist documentaries. I'd recommend it but just a warning that it won't be enjoyable. The most enjoyable part was the soundtrack and the opening credits. Also, they kill real animals which makes no sense since they made the human killings seem so realistic, they could have done the same thing with the animals. I'll rate it 7/10, since no animal should be killed for a movie. What did others make of it? I think it gets an unfair reputation.
I fucking love it when you get that underlying message about humanity, really means something to me that the films creators would put something like that in a movie. Way to go man. EDIT: Although the killing of animals is something I cannot support, especially not in the case of making a film.
If you wanna see real life every day horror, my two favourite movies are happiness and kids. (Not actual horror movies, but scary because it could easily happen to you)
I can definitely get why someone wouldn't like it. I think I liked it because I used to study Anthropology and like studying weird tribe rituals. Also, that turtle scene was awful. How was it still moving? I've heard of Happiness, I'll watch that next.
Sunshine girl and the hunt for the black eyed kids. Starts out like your typical teen movie, with the kind of humour that I appreciate, but the end...
I'm adding all of these to my movie list. I'll get through them all by the end of the week and will post my ratings of them.
I just type in the movie name and then add full movie at the end, then click on any link that looks legit.
Just watched Happiness, that was the cringiest viewing experience I've ever had. It was really good, but like even more disturbing than Cannibal Holocaust probably. Recommend me something with puppies and sunshine, god damn that was depressing.
