But if it works in keeping people in line, then I think that it is a good thing. :)

If that were all it did, then the only issue I would have is with the embarrassing dogma. But, as we see all across the world, it does much more, some of it horrendous. :(

I was only referring to my Church on that one. :) But, yes, I know the history of Christianity a little. :)

I wonder what would have happened if Manichaeism won out. It was more tolerant of other religions because it revered the founders of many religions. :)

It is my fervent wish the religiosity worldwide keeps decreasing until it finally disappears, and mankind moves into a new golden era of rationality, free from the shackles of its intellectual infancy. :)

I would suggest attending a church that is dedicated to the keeping of the 10 Commandments of God. Songs about accepting Christ are fine, as music is indeed part of the religious service. After we accept Christ, we are to become warriors for Christ, in that we go out, seeking to save the lost sheep, just as Christ did. Our lives are now dedicated to the service of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we must share the truth with as many as we possibly can. Of course, before we can do that, we must know what truth is.

The Christian life is one dedicated to the service of bringing other souls to Christ. In everything we do, we are to represent our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and lead them to look upon Him, and His holiness. That means, when tempted at work to lie, to steal, etc. we firmly, but with love, declare we cannot do such evil actions. We also spend our lives in service, reaching out towards the lost. This includes, but is not limited to, giving out tracts, writing books, speaking the truth towards as many souls as we possibly can so that we can hopefully have more brothers and sisters in the kingdom to come.

I once woke up with the remains of a dead goldfish on my erect dick. I was so drunk, I prayed for the Lord to forgive me but I'm afraid it's not enough. What should I do?

In other words, push your religion at everyone you can, making a huge nuisance of yourselves. I really get annoyed with people who come at me to "tell me the good news"...I don't care what your holy book tells you...you have no right to harass others just trying to get through their day. Keep it in your church where it belongs. ;)

My working hypothesis is that one cannot know who has accepted Christ (even w/ respect to oneself), it is written in the Bible that all have sinned but not that anyone has accepted Christ, maybe it is written that one can know that one can accept Christ, but is knowing that one can do something the same as doing something?

Those who want nothing to do with Christ, don't have to have anything to do with Him. I did not say force your religion on anyone. But remember, Christ preached day and night, and the entire world was changed because of Him. He is the one that commissioned this work towards Christians. He preached, and forced Himself upon no one, but continued to work, so long as there was one soul who wanted to hear what He had to say.

We may have all sinned, but as Christ said, by their fruits ye shall know them. So, anyone who claims to be a Christian needs to show they are. Christ said He will free us from sin in John 8:34-36, and it is explained in Romans 6:18 that we are freed from sin, and become servants of righteousness. If we are not openly servants of righteousness, we need to take one good hard, look at ourselves, and pray to Christ for strength to overcome the sinful desires that we have.

John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
