Bernard is kind of an ass, but his chocolate is good - of course, he lost the rights to it a while back after some terrible real estate investments went south
A friend of mine was managing a restaurant and Bernard showed up and asked him why he wasn’t using Bernard Callebaut chocolate in his kitchen, and got raging mad when the answer was “We use Callebaut chocolate, but it’s much cheaper to order the original chocolate from your family’s European choclaterie than from your local business”
It’s the same chocolate, made the same way
I had heard something about the company disowning him
Family, yeah. He had the North American rights for the family recipe, lost his family, then lost his shirt. As far as I know he’s still selling chocolate, just not the family recipe
