    Why are they so good?

You've got baked beans in tomato sauce that is incredibly popular in the United Kingdom.
    There's ketchup.
You got sardines in tomato sauce.
    The list goes on, lol.

Take a bunch of veggies and meat, fry it up in tomato sauce and you have bolognaise

Amazing what you can accomplish with a tomato base and an assortment of ingredients

If you rough chop up a couple pounds of tomatoes, put them in a pot on medium heat, add a couple tablespoons of olive oil, a couple cloves of crushed or minced garlic, some onion, some scallions, and some salt and pepper, switch to simmer once they start getting soft, and half an hour later you have a nice tomato sauce that tastes like lightly seasoned fresh amazing.

I don't get it, beans count as a sauce right? You can't have 2 sauces together! :steaming:

You can turn beans into a sauce, but they are not a sauce by themselves, lol.

Ooooh, SAK's post made me conduct further research. Apparently the runny stuff that comes with the beans is called tomato sauce. I've never even considered beans separately from that sauce, that would be weird.

Ok, yeah it is popular here.

well it all starts out in a dark forested campground. i must have been 9 yrs old. there was talk of hooked men and transvestites in the area. we were all scared. to lose our lunch. then bang. the can of beans i disposed of in the fire exploded and burnt my leg. giving me skin grafts right beside my manhood. now i have to explain to lovers that i was taken advantage of by a can of legumes

That's just a freak accident. The incident making you afraid of beans is called "associationism," where you become scared of something innocuous because you associate the thing or idea with something traumatic that happened to you.
