I’m a father of two beautiful children and was widowed so my friends wanted me to get back out there and give love another chance. My kids aren’t that old yet and I’m worried what they would think since it is a little too soon. But I tried one of those international dating social events and left them with their aunt for a week and a half. Since I got back I kept to myself and kept my girlfriend secret. Now I’m wondering, how do I break it to my kids that i’m thinkin about remarrying? I’m afraid they’ll resent me for replacing their ma so fast.

by the way,how old are they? if they are 7 years young below, I believe it will be difficult to explain to them but i guess if they are above 10 years old, it would be better to tell the truth rather than they discover your concern from other people

as from my perspective and my own, they will be surely surprised and find it awkward (i don't know how early he will re-marry) it will still be hard to understand for them as they don't want their mother to be replaced on the soonest time.

**** the kids, why should they get a say in the dude's love life?

Op, your kids would want you to be happy. You want you to be happy. So be happy and date again.

One is 13 and the other is 9, and I want to tell them myself. I hope they would understand this, it's for their own goodness anyway. I want them to have someone who will take care for them the way mothers do or can. But thanks for your response guys! I really appreciate your responses!

Why is it that concerning? Why would the kids care so much if you got a new woman in your life?

I can't figure out what they are advertising? Kind of a fail on their part.

Introduce the idea of remarriage slowly. I think they well be thrilled about a new partner but they need to get to know her too IMO before the idea of marriage will be easy for them. You don't want them to feel like she is a stranger.

it is funny how people can be replaced like that, it reminds me of algebra. If your kids know elementary algebra, then they will understand and be supportive of your new relationship
