I think there should be alternating 3 day and 4 day weekends every month, 18 stat holidays every year, plus an entire stat week in December haha

Mainly Henry Ford is the one that got that established but the times have moved on and that needs to move on with it. :)

Why so much? Didn't you want free time?

I was young and ambitious, wanted to learn all the ins and outs of fast food management. Plus I got to eat free when I was working. So I worked a lot.

Until my boss noticed my paycheque was bigger than his despite him making double my hourly wage. He made me cut back to a max of 44 :(

I love my free time more than making more money.

Me too. I work as little as possible to cover my expenses and needs now, I’d rather live

I've been lucky and we've always spent Christmas with my family, his family lives about 7 hours (drive) from mine. Because his mom's birthday is new year's Eve so we go there after. This year I'd like to stay home.... Not that I don't love the 21 hour drive... He wants to go to Europe.
That being said, because we're not going for Christmas we will be going in the summer. Spending time with family is important, but traveling in the winter (especially driving) is just not worth the risk.

I'll work twice as hard now, if it means I can retire early

I love my work, I’ll just retire when I’m dead or crippled. Probably happen soon enough, MS is a shitty time

What if you have all of this saved for retirement and a cushy pension only to die on the day before you start your retirement, lol?
