I now have 3 cats. A 2 y/o and two 4 mth old kittens. We were planning only to have 2 but they were a package deal (the only 2 of a litter that survived being abandoned at the dump)
as long as you have the time and the means to take care of them properly, go hard I mean, I knew a lady who went to jail because she had over 100 pets, and when the police came for a wellness check like 40 of them were just dead in the house.
humans are much worse than cats. At least cats are nice to other cats more frequently, we indiscriminately kill anything, human or animal. Really, I'd take a cat over a person - if you feed a cat, they'll be loyal to you unless you hurt or starve them. If you feed a human, they'll pretend to be loyal until they find another source of food.
It depends not only on the individual circumstances, but also on how well the cats get along with each other. We currently have two cats and one dog. At our best times we had four cats and two dogs. I would like to have more animals again someday, but right now we have a small child and are starting to build a house soon. And most of our animals are already seniors. Unfortunately, now is not the right time for us to adopt more cats.
Someone on my neighborhood had around 12 cats, but they were mostly strays that kept coming back for food and did some pest control around the property (there was a massive rat problem in the area at that point), so I never thought they were Crazy Cat Peopleā¢. Personally, I have had three.
