Did you wait until you were legal age, or did you sneak in illegally? Did you drink the first time?
Describe your first bar trip experience

    I was 17, drinking age was 19.
I used my brothers ID to get in and I drank smirnoff ice. Nothing too eventful.

17, legal age was 21, & still in the days where women were not allowed in bars without a male escort.
Went in with 2 legal fellows, & a friend same age as me. No ID was checked & I didn't have one anyway, fake or otherwise.
1 beer & got the hell out, I was terrified.

Yes, women were not allowed to do much without a man back then.

We also weren't allowed a credit card until the 70's.

It went in your records, as far as I know, & went against you in the future should anything involve legality.

@JadeBlackOlive That seems kind of backwards and outmoded, if you ask me, lol.

Well yeah, but this was decades ago when women were pretty much property. Luckily the ''obey'' part of the wedding vows were starting to be left out when I got married, so love, honour, & cherish, were in ours.

I think if Alexander would have lost or if the Egyptian civilization would have spread, a more equal tradition among the sexes might have been passed down instead of this patriarchal one that we are still battling with to this day, lol.

But you wouldn't have been arrested in the moment? What if you did it repeatedly?

Since I only tried it that once & was not caught, I don't know about repeats or arrests. I'm 71 now, & this was a long time ago for me.

In Alberta it was illegal for women and men to drink in the same bar until the 70s some time, bars were segregated into male and female rooms

First time was 15, went to a strip bar. Was roughly removed after the waitress let the bouncers know. I looked 12, so it was a fair catch.

Shortly after my 17th birthday I went into another strip bar, and the bouncer was about to forcibly remove me - the guy in the DJ booth was someone who knew me from school who was a year ahead of me but thought I was his age, he came over and vouched for me. Got to know all the staff, saw a lot of naked ladies, drank a lot over that year. I was in the bar at midnight when I turned 18, showed the bartender my ID, he yelled at me for a few minutes and then gave me free beer for the rest of the night

No, but my friends did. I think it was about that time I realized I'm not a drinker, but a smoker.
