Then they would order if for you, those kinds of shops can do that - big chains are more restrictive, but mom and pop places don’t usually sign exclusivity deals. If the product is better it would be worth the trouble

It’s a fair assumption. If they won’t get you a better product because they consider it gay, they’re bigots. If they won’t order a better product because you ask, they’re not worth doing business with anyways
What if they don't know about the product and that is why they don't have it? Or it is more cost-effective to carry the inferior product.
They can still order it for you. Whether they knew about it or not isn’t relevant.

You get a better product, and they get to make a customer happy - that’s beneficial for mom and pop type stores and customers too.
