feed their dogs, dog food. There is this stray dog that always roams around the dumpster near my place. I give him lots of human food everyday and he loves it. He scarfs it down, hungrily. :)

Why wouldn't they feed them dog food?

So they don't have to spend money on dog food and just feed them human food.

Some human food is poison to dogs and over time can damage their organs, same with cats.

Human food, as mentioned is more expensive, and in most cases isn't as nutritionally sound for a dog as a good dog food.

There's also other forms of dog food other than kibble. They have raw and freeze dried, but those are both significantly more than kibble.

Also there's lots of good quality kibbles out there too. My dogs food is about $23 for a 5lb bag that lasts 3 weeks between the two of them.
Tried raw at one point and it was costing about $50/week to feed it to both of them. Haven't tried freeze dried yet but I want to since one of my boys has crazy allergies.

Is it okay if a cat comes up to your plate and starts licking your food? This stray cat does it all of the time because I coax it. Yesterday, it was licking macaroni and cheese. :)

Most cats are lactose intolerant. Also cats, unlike dogs, are obligate carnivores and shouldn’t eat anything other than meat.

Then why do they always portrayed as drinking milk? What about meat with seasoning and sauce? :)

Some will readily consume dairy products, but many will vomit soon after because of the aforementioned lactose intolerance. A hungry cat isn't going to turn away seasoned meats either, but many of the seasonings we use just aren't good for them in the long run.

If the truth be told though, and I had a chicken sandwich and saw a stray cat when I am away from home, I would pull off the breading from the chicken and give the meat to the cat. I think that would be better than not give the poor kitty anything. If the cat was friendly, I would probably bring the poor thing home, and go from there.

Man, there are a lot of stray cats and dogs near my home. Many are super friendly. I hope that it is okay to feed them because I do but I don't want to be responsible for them, though, like taking them to the vet or anything. :)
