Be more tempted if I wasn’t broke ass and could pay in Canadian. Paying the exchange rate and then an exchange fee adds to the cost a fair amount.

I’ll probably do it anyways when I have some free $$, but I’m really not a fan of paying USD for a Canadian product

That’s fair. I wonder would posters be more likely to purchase upgrades if there were some things for under $5? Or maybe would you donate if you could choose the currency and amount but not receive a feature for it?

And some people won’t be, using the site will always be free. I think ads are also a put off for some people so that’s why nexopia will offer optional paid features.

I don’t imagine it would be hard to set it up to pay in local currency, just a matter of finding a payment processing system that would allow it for an equal or lower cost than the current option. I mean, would any online company offer that option if it was too expensive to facilitate?

I can pay Canadian dollars on pretty much any Canadian, and a lot of American retail sites - it’s not just the exchange rate itself that kills (doesn’t help) but the extra fees involved in paying in a foreign currency, so 20=25 and then an extra fee for doing the conversation which takes it to $28.

It’s not hideous, but it’s not nearly as simple as $20=$20 over and done

This is good feedback, for the Canadian users it makes more sense for sure, and after all we are still the majority. I wonder how possible it is to offer payment in either currency.

Look at payment the payment processer the site is currently using, then see what alternate processing companies charge to allow different currency transactions, if there isn’t anyone competitive to add the ability maybe it’s not viable, but worth looking into if it means more Canadians are willing to pay

How do you go about donating?
Considering none of the features are appealing to me. But also believe in supporting something I firmly enjoy and believe the potential in.

It’s not bad for 3 months of a feature

Just be nice if we had the option to pay in a local currency without getting hit with paying exchange fees, ya know - £ for you $C for us, USD for Americans. I’d rather all the $$ I spend go straight to Nexopia, or at least as much as is possible. Funding banks sucks, they’re the only companies that consistently pull record profits by jacking fees during recessions

Most credit cards charge a couple bucks to make the exchange, as well as a giving you a few cents on the dollar less than your currency is worth

My credit card doesn’t charge me for USD transactions but they do make their own rate for their benefit
