I haven’t been to school in a long time, I wonder what it’s like in Canada atm. “The new curriculum will reportedly include LGBTQ-themed history, English and health courses” https://www.teenvogue.com/story/massachusetts-introduces-lgbtq-inclusive-curriculum
School isn’t intended to really teach you anything other than basic skills, and how to learn. It just takes humans 12+ years to get that down - we’re stupid by nature, learning goes against our base instincts
Did you guys ever get them maths problems, where it's like "Rajuvaripet has 3 apples, he gives 1 mango to Uvuvwevwevwe. How many apples does Kowalczyk have?"
I think this will at least help to gain more respect and tolerance from people, open people’s minds. There are so many people who just don’t know any better because they don’t know anything about people outside of their own bubble. When I was a teenager my mom told me I wasn’t allowed to go to the gay pride parade because she was worried I could contract hiv. True story. It’s the lack of education that creates bigotry. Another reason sex ed is important.
how is your bubble? does your mom live there? wat is your moms phone #? jk dont care about you or your mom. how is thursday. jk going to the gym. thx for the logon dump of emotions nexopia. untill next time! catch me on sat night hanging around getting a rum and coke
Taxes yeah but why would you need someone to teach you how to fill out a mortgage application? You just plug in your info. It’s not hard.
You just plug information into your taxes too tho, I guess maybe it’s harder if you work for yourself or don’t get a t4 slip idk
They can get way more complicated and confusing than that, plus all the math you have to do *faints* ...actually I do my own taxes, they aren’t that hard. Also tax laws change all the time so teaching people how to do it when they’re young is pointless because in 10 years it might be completely different.
Anything relevant to nowaday’s society should be touched on in school imho. I’ve had a discussion about that with my literature teacher. I think it’s ridiculous that we learn how to read medieval poetry, but most of my class mates can’t even write a decent letter.
Yeah we should learn about all the different ideologies people enjoy today My experience at school and even university was that it was mostly just training for some place in the labour market, thinking was not really allowed
I think that you are advocating for breaking out of the more liberal arts-type schooling that we have now and in favor of a more practical-type?
