    14 teeth!

We had previously brought our concern to our last vet in BC, years ago. But they said his teeth looked fine, to try brushing his teeth more often - which he would not let me do. So we made sure he always had good quality bones to gnaw on.

Fast forward 4 years. I took knuckles to the vet yesterday for a tooth extraction. When I picked him up they said all those teeth were rotten, which is why his breath was so bad.

I'm so mad, I feel like I let my dog down.

Overall good. I'm so happy with the vet I have here. Wonderful people.

Knuckles woke up like a champ!
He was pretty loopy yesterday with all the drugs, but he's returning to normal with lots of bed rest

Does his tongue hang out if his mouth now? Dental care can be difficult with dogs who don’t chew, don’t blame yourself! You didn’t let him down, you took him to the vet to remove his tooths

    Not that I've noticed yet.

He's been drinking lots of water, and I switched from dry to wet food.
But otherwise he's just been sleeping

I'm still mad that my last vet didn't catch it sooner. Maybe he would have only lost one or two teeth instead of 13..

Poor knuckles. It’s the same with human doctors how are you supposed to know if you can trust their judgement. How old is your pup?

You can get a second opinion. That's what I did when my doctor said that I had Herpes Zoster, lol. :)

We did for a cyst on our cocker spaniel x Golden retriever (Superman.) The BC vet said $4000 to remove the lump. We drove 1000km to our previous vet, who removed it for $800

I probably wouldn’t have gotten a second opinion in this case,
Close in age to Kona, she is a big chewer and I give her a deer antler her teeth still look like pupper teeth. But then I read that dogs can crack a tooth on antler so idk what to do.

My brothers cats name is Kona!
I give my dogs full moose legs. Cut them into sections and dry them in the oven on low heat for a day.
His teeth looked okay on the outside, but after the x ray the roots were rotten.

I brought him in because he had fucking terrible breath. So we booked a tooth extraction. Just didn't know how bad it was until they put him out and got in there

Wouldn't it be easier to rinse his mouth out with mouthwash?
