was just looking at listings and the neighbor one is listed at $699k That is so fucked up lol, its 1200 sq ft and not even that nice
It kills me, new properties are super expensive too, but they’re built as if they’re super expensive with quality materials. Anything 10+ years they could still build for under 30k, they’re built to code, but with the lowest quality everything they could get away with. They’re not worth nearly what they sell for, but pay the same for something new and it’s ultra luxury with proper soundproofing, marble and appliances worth more than the older unit cost to build and finish with appliances and fittings.
Yeah my condo is 980 sq ft, I paid $154k almost 3 years ago and now it's quoted as being worth $270k. The market is crazy. That's why my plan is to buy property that I can build my own place on. I don't trust the build quality of anything anymore.
When I was 27 I was looking at a 20th floor downtown concrete condo in Calgary, 2 bedroom, 900 square feet. They were asking 45k. Thought it was a huge ripoff. Same units go for 500k now, definitely a ripoff at that price
thats how they do it here. subdivision after subdivison and pack everyone in like sardines. They do like 4 different models of houses and make a whole community with those 4 different models cheapest crew, cheapest floor plan, cheapest appliances. then sold for 3-600k its insain My mom bought a beautiful property in Penticton in 1980something for like 60K and sold it 20 years later for over 300k i was born in the wrong time.
The problem with condos in general is they go against all common sense, the value of property is the actual property, if you buy a condo or town home, you don’t own any property, just a small space sitting on it. Thing burns down you get your insurance cash, house burns down you get the same and a place to build as well.
