Okay, so what I would do is begin by setting:

m = 13

or:

13 = -(1/2)|s - 55| + 20

Subtract 20 from both sides:

-7 = -(1/2)|s - 55|

Multiply both sides by -2:

14 = |s - 55|

This will be true if:

s - 55 = ±14

s = 55 ± 14

So, we have:

s = 41, 69

Let's let R be the retail price and W be the wholesale price. From the given information, we are tole the relationship between the two is:

R = 1.75W + 6 = (7/4)W + 6

We need to solve this for W, to get W as a function of R. So subtract 6 from both sides:

R - 6 = (7/4)W

Multiply both sides by 4/7:

W = (4/7)(R - 6)

Now, we have a formula we can use to answer the given question. We are told:

R = 146

Hence:

W = (4/7)(146 - 6) = (4/7)(140) = (4/7)(20*7) = 4*20 = 80

Thus, we find that the wholesale price of a coat that retails for \$146 is \$80.

Not that derailing thread is my specialty but I could have swear I saw 25.jpg a picture of a dead deer.
How do you search for an image actually?

You'd probably have to be able to query the database to search for something like that...I don't get anything when I use the forum search, nor when I use google with the site: modifier.

Oh, PM me the link please. I saw it randomly while logged out. I wasn't sure since it was only a thumbnail.

I just realize something important!

I can actually ask you how to write down the language properly in mathematical symbolism for any logical intuition I have.

Logic isn't an area in which I have much expertise, but I know folks who do.
