Here's the way I would address the issue...at some point in time, say this upcoming New Years Day, all women are allowed to go topless, and all men are allotted booklets of tickets that say "Cover those things up!" If a woman receives 10 such tickets during the course of a year, she is then required to conceal her unsightly (as determined by male consensus) breastesses.
Slowly but surely we’re gonna let our boobs air out in the wind with the men in BC http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/...minds-others-after-police-encounter-1.3170353
Obvious there are guys who get way too excited about this possibility without realizing that they are being part of the problem. It won’t just be “hot girls” who go topless, and when anyone does it, and it’s the fact that anyone can do it that makes it such a positive thing. You would be a loser if you told someone with a face you found unattractive to cover it up, and you would also be a loser if you only think attractive breasts should be free. Besides the obvious benefit of comfort and time and money for women, destigmatizing the female breast/nipple would also normalize the incredible variation in shapes and sizes of real breasts. That’s good for young girls and young boys when they are developing their concept of normal. If you grow up seeing big, round, perky.. it seems like everyone should look like that. Plus, how many women wean early or skip breastfeeding because of all the people who shame or leer or otherwise make feeding a child seem sexual or wrong. I do think it’s important. So high five to all the women who choose to go without a bra sometimes or supporting your friends that do. And anything further than that makes you even more awesome because I know it’s still not easy to do without getting unpleasant attention.
Thanks. It’s interesting how the laws are already in the right, but the public mindset isn’t there yet. Usually goes the other way. Ultimately it should help the change in mindset as people who go against the grain won’t face legal consequences... but it says something about the barriers that even when women see all the benefits, they still cover up. I’m curious how far you guys think we are from a future where a visit to the beach will likely yield at least a couple topless women? (That’s where you see the most topless men after all).
I think we are still decades away from women going topless at a beach that isn’t designated as a nude beach. And even in Vancouver, I’ve seen things start to go backwards right after trump won. All these weirdos started coming out of nowhere. Suddenly I had men approaching me in public asking me if I was a feminist or a SJW. Like, wtf? I was literally just minding my own business, dressed normal, on my way to work. And people were preaching on the train about the craziest stuff all of a sudden. So yeah, I think we’re more likely to go backwards than forwards for the next 4 years.
I thought that they were just joking when they said that many were going to migrate to Canada when Trump won.
It is definitely a concern that a conservative/crazy president will liberate and entice the crazy conservative types everywhere to feel more open to acting out. But I don’t think that these mindsets can win people back. Only generations of poor education could do that. So I think we just have to tough it out and be the change we want to see...
I will admit it is speculation on my part, but given how unusually awesome he is in every other way, he simply must be an awesome physical specimen too.
