It's my opinion that (volunteer) moderators shouldn't be listed as staff.
We are being asked to enforce the site rules, not make the rules.

Think of a user's perspective, there are cases where they'll need a mod's help and cases where they need a true staff member.
I think it would be better to differentiate in advance.

Perhaps, switch the "Staff Member" badge to "Moderator"...

(This means that releases the "New Member", "Member", etc doesn't need to say "Moderator" anymore.. and then maybe we can hopefully one day get the override back so we can put silly stuff in there, like before, *crosses fingers*. Forum Rank... that's what it was called, plus users could customize their forum rank)

Custom ranks were nice, as were making our own forums. I also liked getting plus for free by moderating as necessary

Yes yes yes! I actually really miss Pic modding for plus. I would do it for nothing at first but if plus comes back that would be an awesome incentive to gain user loyalty and get them coming back, and helping out.
And @djfly I agree if all mods are listed as staff in the future we'll likely get bombarded with requests to do admin tasks. But for now since there are so few of us it doesn't really matter

yes, but we still say "staff"
That's my whole point, where it says "staff" it should say "mod"... cuz we really aren't staff.

Agreed times a million on this ^^ But I somehow feel that we're cheating lol. If Admin are ok with us commandeering our own titles though, cool.

Nex used to put all the badges on the profile, and they could be stacked up... mine was "plus user, pic mod, verified user".. someone like @Timo had "Founder" as well, @Castellan had "Staff Member" and something that indicated he was a coder, IIRC. @ari13 had "Global Mod", @foxpilot had "Adminstrator"...
then, any plus user could screw with their forum rank...
this new forum system doesn't seem to support all that... we only seem to get ONE title and ONE rank... instead of giving all "staff"; the same title, why not break it up to their actual (main) job... and use that other spot just as the forum rank...

i unno, i'm spitballing ideas, not my call anyway...

yeah... but that leaves us simple mods being simply called staff.
... i'm suggesting you DONT call us staff, and call us "Form Mods" or "Moderator" instead...

    in other words...

    right now we can be:
Moderator / Staff Member OR [custom] / Staff Member

    i think we should be:
[current rank] / Moderator OR [custom] / Moderator

    or something like that...
in other words, make it extremely clear that mods arent staff... but still let us set our title.

I agree with the distinction. Given the complexity, we should just get paid a yearly salary of $750,000 for modding, and keep calling ourselves staff!

Same here... I worked on trying to build a mobile page for them, but it didn't pan out.
