I gave up on online dating with people far away, there’s always someone close who’s just as good and nobody needs to relocate.

But I know it can be worth it, just a lot of extra stress and loneliness

I tried long distance, and I loved it at the time, I remember when my ex wife got to calgary and I was so happy and she hated it. Like seething hatred. That wasn’t the first red flag, but it bothered me, now I get it, after living in Vancouver. This city is pretty a couple months out of the year, but it’s always too dry

Ive only been in long distance relationships, looking back I don't understand why there was this pressure to meet in irl. Meeting them irl always led to the destruction of the relationship. The screen is perfectly fine.

My current attitude is based on there being really no evidence that people are overly unique. You can find someone almost exactly the same in every place in the world.

When I was living in Thunder Bay I went to The Oupost (Lakehead University pub) and saw some of the same people I remembered from Thirsty’s (bar at Mount Royal in Calgary)

Obviously not the same people, but they looked similar, dressed and acted similarly as well. So logically you can find your perfect match wherever you are, or online in another city, but they definitely exist in more than one place. There’s someone for everyone in most places if you can find them. Except maybe Saskatchewan, place is just empty and bleak :imslow:

So you're saying there's an Edmonton version of @bluntarilla who I could date?

And ayyy.. Thunder Bay! That's where basically all of my family is from. I've been there (and to Lakehead) many times.

I quite liked it, lived in Fort William for almost a year while my girlfriend was finishing up her 3rd degree. And yeah, if you go to similar places in different cities it’s weird how similar the people are. Weird when someone looks, sounds and acts close enough that you get déjà vu!
