the idea that the Christian God is supposed to be good, according to the non-religious definition of the word, good, came from Plato's Form of the Good. The Christian God never said that He was good, according to any secular definition of the word. He always said that whatever was righteous and holy are all just things that he supported or demanded. Sin is just what He doesn't like.
