Had a few questions from friends (former Nexopians) asking if they could get their old accounts back, even if they no longer have access to their old email address. Do we have a definitive answer on this?

Technically I "CAN" change their email addresses. But the accounts will have to be verified of course to prove it's really theirs. I will get you a definitive answer to you soon as to how to do it.

Quite a few of these people tried doing the password reset yesterday and today, all reported that they never got the email.
I think that there's a chance that the email reset might not be working...

Do you have any relatively low-burden thoughts on verification?

We should for sure get the pwd reset working. If that's not working it's a real issue.

For verifying accounts without email, as you probably know the larger companies like Facebook and Google pretty much just tell you to f-ck off, although these days they'll have you add a phone number, etc.

I can't really think of a reliable way to do this manually w a mod. Like if someone could upload a few of the pictures they had or something, but they're unlikely to still have them.

What if we had at least five other members verify that the person is really the same person? Something like that?

If the user has photos of themselves up you could have them make a sign picture - that was the verification procedure on the old site. A handwritten sign with their username @nexopia.com written on it. You had to be able to see their whole face and both hands holding the photo.

    This makes the most sense.
(My only thought so far is to let the users message an "official" nexopia FB from theirs (pretty easy to tell that two accounts are the same person), but @stonesgurl has a better idea.

Is there a way to search up old nexopia accounts? Just wanted to take a trip to the past and do not have access to my old email account. Created a new nexopia for this reason.

See the recover your old account thread. Email us and I can reset your old account as long as you can verify you're the account holder.

I think there's a problem with this Mark, the user search is so shitty that it's really, really, really hard to find anything. I highly doubt most users will remember their *exact* ID, considering all the special characters. If they can't find themselves, how can they request their old account, even if they can prove ownership?

I think you really need to pressure @SadikB and @Kevinovich to get the user search fixed/enhanced/whatever ASAP.

By and large, there haven't been any issues. I've had one user who wasn't able to verify an account out of 50. Most people remember their usernames, but don't have access to their old email accounts. Regardless, as long as I can connect the person with an account, I'm happy to give them access. It really hasn't been a problem.

That being said, I have brought up the search issue as we want users to be able to find and message their friends.

I'd love to have access to my old account but don't have my old email address associated with it...hence this new account. Any hope for me or should I just stick with this?
