    Ladies and gentleman,

Why did I post Qatar? Who knows? It is certainly a country. I have not many ideas about it, nor have I been there, nor do I have any friends or relatives who live there.

    So why Qatar?

Post your responses on what you think.

Qatar sounds like a wonderful country to visit. They have a fake history of ceramics production made for western tourists because pottery is something westerners expect to see when they visit the Middle East although historically there is nowhere to mine kaolin in the country!

I would prefer to see the fake history of ceramics production over the real history of ceramics production

And why is that? Ceramics history tells the history of civilization in many regions! Did you know the Chinese had high temperature kilns and were producing fine porcelain while the rest of the word was mucking around with earthernware (glorified mud really).

That's partly because they invented the blast furnace.

Not only the kiln but the clay has to be completely free of iron and other contaminants for it to look so pure

Is it just porcelain or other ceramics, too?

Just porcelain. Regular stoneware is normally quite iron heavy as is earthernware.
