I've experienced sleep paralysis before, a handful of times, but not for a long time now.

I’ve never experienced it, but I do experience the falling. I’ll wake up because I dreamed that I fell off a cliff or out of a plane or something all the time.

When I was a kid, I had a lucid dream that I was in a video game (Leo Steel, can't believe I remembered that lol) . I tried opening my eyes but couldn't and was like that for 5 minutes. Is that sleep paralysis? I was awake but just couldn't open my eyes and it was scary as fuck.

I wake up often and can't move any of my muscles but I'm consciously awake and is aware of everything around me. It feels like I've been immobilized about to be devoured by some beastly creature any minute now. :(

That's how it felt for me (except for the dread of being devoured). I understand that we experience a type of paralysis during REM sleep to prevent us from acting out our dreams, so I think it's just part of that when we go straight from a deep sleep to being awake.

Thanks for sharing your experience . Same experience for me also :) . Some suggest to focus on a one finger of your foot to release from this scary situation. Don't know much about the scientific background of that. I usually do this trick and avoid this strange behaviour while sleep paralysis :)

I use that trick to get myself to stop being dizzy, so it might work in this situation, too. :)

I experience the falling thing too.
Also have chronic insomnia so I often have trouble falling asleep, sometimes staying asleep. Usually once I pass out I am OUT, but not always.
