We're going to my hometown the night before to have dinner with my fam, then coming back that night and cooking dinner for Mr. Wrecky's fam the next day. I think I'm only cooking for 9 people, but I always anticipate an extra 5 just in case more people show up. Anyone else cooking a turkey this year? If so tell me what your menu looks like, I'm still deciding on mine
We have three dinners over the weekend, our own, my wife's parents, then at my baba's. This Friday is my favorite, it's our annual Friendsgiving Potluck where everyone brings a dish and we all eat and drink and be merry late into the night. I guess this is a good time to say that it's open invite, anyone can come if they'd like! https://www.facebook.com/events/1958594347721569/ I like to switch up what I cook each year. It's been a turkey a couple of times, a few hams, 3-types of duck one year. This year I'm going to cook up 8 racks of baby back ribs. In the future I'd like to make individual quail and also a bunch of stuffed pork loins. This was the ham from last year:
This is my first thanksgiving without my family. Being that I now live in Newfoundland with my wife’s family, we are going into St Johns and spending time with them. No idea what their traditions are, so not really sure what’s happening.
My family is hyper organized, my grandma assigns everyone a dish based on cooking skill to bring to cut down on her work load, and she does the mains. It's a formal sit down dinner with wine, fancy napkins, classical music and assigned seating I just got moved up from the "kids table" 2 years ago. My bf's family is all over the place, I never know exactly how many people are coming or when they're gonna show up, so whoever comes early gets put to work helping me because I basically do it all myself. We get day drunk and people just sit wherever and continue eating and drinking until late.
last night we had friends giving dinner with my bfs friends, it was so good I'm still mad that were not going to the one with my family but I got turkey so I guess its ok
We went to my hometown and had Thanksgiving dinner with my family tonight, I've been demoted from dessert to beverages
I don't have any dinners this year. My family isn't close so thanksgiving is just a day where I get paid overtime at work.
