I’ve had spam added to dishes where it was actually pretty tasty, but I’d never order it or buy it normally

It's a staple in Hawaii. They have every flavor of Spam you can imagine and most fast food places have a "Spamburger" on the menu. I can't eat the stuff. Smells too much like Alpo dog food.

I had a “ramen” burger from a sushi place during burger fest here once, cooked and then crisped ramen noodles as a bun, and the toppings included an egg over easy and a slice of crispy seasoned spam - I was shocked at how well it worked with the burger

That's something else Hawaii has...fried eggs on a hamburger. I think I could handle that, but will pass on the Spam. I just .... can't. LOL!

    Haha

The fried egg is fantastic, always great - also a natural food full of lots of healthy ingredients, as opposed to faux meat with questionable content

The way they prepared the spam it was good, but regular bacon would have been better - not as unique, but better

The ramen bun was surprisingly good

Embedded once showed Anthony Pettis eating a fried egg over a steak during fight week and he missed weight. Coincidence?

They do this "bowl" with cooked rice topped with a hamburger patty topped with a fried egg topped with brown gravy. It's different. Not bad, but not something I would ever order in a restaurant....again.

Hawaii is all about eating for cheap. They have to be. Everything there is so expensive. I lived there for a year and had had enough. A 3/4 gallon of milk was over $8.00. You can take the prices in the state-side stores and double them and that's close to what you will pay there.

Ouch. A 4 litre here is around $5 Canadian - so $4 US or so, and that’s slightly larger than a gallon
