The Netherlands is relevant to karlij s argument because that’s where she’s from. India is not relevant. We are talking about the western world and the countries that we live in. Context matters. You can’t just throw out irrelevant arguments to what we’re discussing and hope they sick.

Point is how does the applicant know it was race and not a spelling error?
Point is not everything is race unless that is your excuse for everything.

Point is clearly the applicant had a first Nations name and yet still got an interview. The rest was just how that situation happened. But, because all you see is everything is race related, that is how you took it.
Again, not everything is race related unless you make it that.

Context does matter. I made this thread and I live in Canada. Bringing up India is as relevant as Netherlands.

    *clarification*
I did not make this thread. I meant it was my post that started the resume name thing.

You are trying to say that because not everyone is racist, means that no one is racist. Because you and your colleagues would hire someone with a First Nations name, means that everyone would. You are turning a bigger picture into a you picture. You can’t see outside of your own experience.

No, you’re basing your view off of the fact that you are not racist. I’m basing mine off of the fact that lots of people are. Also multiple studies.

@skrinkle Lovelamp was just trying to hit on you. How did a pick-up line turn into a two page argument, lol?

You are saying every white person is racist.
You are saying every white person gets things handed to them on a silver platter.
You are saying that every visible minority is treated horrible every second of their lives.

I am saying not every white person is racist.
I am saying that I worked very hard for everything I have and I take offense to the "your white privilege" statement.

Can we meet in the middle somewhere?

He said that pretty well - it’s not that we don’t have obstacles, we just have fewer of them

Yeah, I agree that she's pretty hot. But I think you just did the equivalent of a girl sending her lingerie pics to her dad by mistake. :)

When someone has decided to not agree with you, no matter what, then arguing is pointless. Some people won’t believe the earth is a sphere if you took them to space and showed it to them.

I thought this was a debate, not an argument.

The race (as in running a race) video is the most accurate, for Canada or the US at the very least. People in minority groups have to work harder, smarter and be noteably better to get ahead. White men just have to work reasonably hard, and not **** up. There’s no need to be exceptional to get to the top, just consistent.
