During my formative years in the 70s and 80s, the popular music scene was heavily populated with musical virtuosos that we worshiped as gods...but when I hear my nieces and nephews talking about their favorite groups, I hear them talking about cool videos, cool clothes, etc., but not about great musical ability. So, I was just curious who are the great musicians today?
Ok I’m gonna list my picks for most creative/talented musicians and idc what anyone says. I think people are too quick to jump on “pop” musicians and assume they’re machines created by labels, when there are actually a lot of genuine ones. Miley Cyrus. Kelly Clarkson. Gwen Stefani. Jessie J. Adele.
When I was young, lots of older people told me what I liked was trash/noise/nonsense, and I vowed to myself that when I got older I wouldn't be like that. I say to each his own, and if we all like the same things it would be quite boring. There are always going to be extremely talented musicians in any generation, and I appreciate and respect all opinions anyone wishes to give. I'm interested in who you all consider to be the virtuosos of your respective generations.
Yeah, even some millennials think it’s cool to hate on pop musicians tho. When I was a kid I remember everyone said Britney Spears couldn’t sing and she was just marketed well etc. and I’m like....
