Why does Netflix feel that making animes into real life shows is a smart idea?! Didn't they notice that death note was crap...
Can you guys tell me some good anime shows to check out I’ve always wanted to watch some just never knew where to begin! And nothing with a ton of reading for now.
Try Parasyte The Maxim. Great anime with deep insight on human relationship with other living beings.
I watched the live action version of ghost in the shell, definitely don’t get the cultural appropriation freak out - if people don’t want white actors to play anime characters, maybe stop drawing characters that look like they’re Caucasian. And Scarlet Jo is a 5 alarm hottie in that movie
I don't care two shits about cultural appropriation. What I care is whether the Hollywood version preserve the meaning of the original anime. Typically, Hollywood turns good anime into rubbish just to make it acceptable for American pallet.
I’m 100% a heathen who thinks most anime is garbage. My old roommate made me watch a ton of it and there were a couple I enjoyed, but most of it was awful. Bad writing, bad choices for voices, bad art. Japan’s obsession with North American culture is sad, because North America has no cultural identity. Dunno, maybe that’s why they find us fascinating
I dunno man, so many of them are the same. They lack originality and depth. If anime were a tv show it would be Two and a Half Men.
If anime lack originality, you wouldn't see them adapted to many Hollywood version. Problem is, you are only exposed to one kind of anime to one kind of demographic. Certainly not an excuse to equalize it to the rubbish that is Hollywood.
I was half asleep and cranky I was having trouble falling back asleep when I wrote that haha Still half asleep - I did see a lot of anime that was lacking in creative direction, but a lot of it is actually decent. I’m still not a fan, but some of it is pretty legit. I don’t see the North American market as inferior to it though, there are some pretty incredible things out there in both, I’m just not a huge fan of animation in general, or subtitles, or squeaky characters
